Keren HaTzadik

Rabbi Aryeh Levin, (1885 -1969), fondly called the “Tzadik of Jerusalem,” was known for his inestimable loving-kindness, humility, and respect for every person. He became known as the "Father of Prisoners" for his unfailing devotion and regular visits to the Jews imprisoned during the British Mandate. His commitment to lovingly help the poor, the sick and the vulnerable made him a legend in his own time. Keren HaTzadik is named for this great Tzadik (righteous man) and seeks to emulate his unbounded kindness.

Keren HaTzadik: the organization that strengthens and encourages:

  • IDF-Hesder (soldiers who combine army service with their yeshiva studies)

  • Dati-Leumi (Religious Zionist) families in professional development and transitions

  • Individuals and families courageously facing extraordinary life challenges

  • Communities during wartime and/or rocket attack to stay strong

  • Keren HaTzadik through its Lifros Kenafayim program provides professional training to enable professional advancement

We've been serving for decades (some brief highlights are from the past 22 years):

  • After the expulsion from Gush Katif in 2005, Keren HaTzadik enabled innumerable families to boldly face their brutal reality

  • Keren HaTzadik’s volunteers were the first to arrive on the scene to encourage and support the people of Tzfat, Haifa, Tiberius, Kiryat Shmona, Shlomi and other cities attacked by Hezbollah’s Katyusha rockets during the summer of 2006 (2nd Lebanon war).

  • Keren HaTzadik was the first organization to enter Sederot amid the falling Kassam rockets in the early 2000’s and has been on the scene during every conflict right up to the current Swords of Iron to support and encourage the brave citizens of Sderot..

  • During operation Pillar of Defense in 2012 Keren HaTzadik’s volunteers brought supplies, toys and moral support to the families under fire. A special relationship was developed with Kibbutz Zikim.
